  What do you need manganese for?

   

  The essential trace element manganese has many important functions in the body. It is an indispensable component of enzymes that control the carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism and are therefore responsible for the formation of important endogenous compounds.

  The mitochondria are the energy power plants of our cells and need manganese for the function of the enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD). This enzyme protects them from the aggressive free radicals and ensures the cell's energy supply. Manganese-dependent enzymes also play an important role in the development of connective tissue, cartilage and bones. Main locations of manganese in the human body are the liver, bones, kidneys, and pancreas.

   

  What are the consequences of a manganese deficiency?

   

  Since the biological meaning of manganese is so complex, the symptoms of a deficiency are rather unspecific. These can include disorders in carbohydrate metabolism, such as diabetes or glucose intolerance. Growth disorders in children or bone and cartilage changes up to osteoporosis are also possible. Last but not least, a manganese deficiency can also lead to various skin diseases and loss of appetite.

  Take 1 ampoule a day, preferably outside of meals.
