  The astaxanthin used in this product is grown in a hermetically sealed system. The technology used for this guarantees a very high control standard, with which microbial contamination, agricultural residues and environmental influences can be excluded.

  How does astaxanthin work?

  The freshwater microalga Haematococcus pluvalis, also known as blood rain algae, aroused the researchers' interest early on. In 1797, the French scientist Girod-Chantrans examined the approximately 0.1 mm large green alga.

  If this is exposed to strong sunlight or if there is a lack of nutrients, it forms a blood-red pigmentation. Astaxanthin is responsible for this. This protective function of astaxanthin enables the blood rain algae to go into a deep sleep without food or water for a period of more than 40 years. As soon as enough food is available and the weather conditions have improved, she will wake up from her deep sleep and return to her green, active state.

  Biotopes such as ponds, small water holes or even holy water pools, which are inhabited by the microalgae, can sometimes be admired in a spectacular blood-red color due to these properties.

   

  Astaxanthin study

  The effect of astaxanthin on the appearance of the skin was investigated in a study in which test subjects were given 2 milligrams of astaxanthin daily. The participants' skin was examined at three points in time to determine possible changes: once at the start of the study, after two weeks and after four weeks.

   

  Results were recorded after just two weeks. Improvements in the complexion of the skin were observed in seven areas, and after a further two weeks dry skin had changed in such a way that it had a higher moisture content, fewer fine lines, fewer pimples and a more even fat content.

  In addition, the participants reported less puffiness under the eyes and increased skin elasticity. In the control group, which was not administered astaxanthin, no improvements were seen over the same period.   Consumption recommendation:

  Adults 2 capsules daily divided into meals with plenty of water.
