  Indian frankincense (Olibanum indicum) contains boswellic acids and essential oil as the most important active substances. The ingredients have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, decongestant and antibiotic effects. An immunosuppressive effect of frankincense has also been described.

  What is Boswellia?

  It has become an integral part of Indian Ayurveda: Boswellia incense. This is the natural resin of the large Indian frankincense tree Boswellia serrata, which comes from the dry mountain regions of northeast India.

   

  Oral incense

  Boswellia frankincense contains valuable ingredients that were already valued in the Middle Ages: the boswellic acids. In addition, mucilage and essential oils are among the valuable components of frankincense. The latter are responsible for the characteristic incense smell.
