  Arenga sugar should not be confused with the destructive cultivation of Palm Oil. The Arenga Sugar or also called sugar from the forests, only grows in diverse forests, where many species of both plants and animals coexist, compared to the monotonous plantations where palm oil is extracted, and where native species, both of plants like trees do not grow. The Arenga tree grows in the shadows while it is still young, (8 years old), and when it grows, a year it is in full production. Thus, the Arenga palm is planted in areas of Bio-diversity to obtain shade. That is why this type of palm tree is not very interesting for monoculture production methods, since it is collected by hand and under principles of organic production and agroforestry practices.

  The MASARANG Foundation in Indonesia established in 2001, seeks solutions for the most urgent problems of our time: deforestation, loss of biodiversity, climate change, poverty and underdevelopment. The Masarang Foundation projects depend on financial donations. We, you and I are contributing to the Foundation by buying the Sugar from the Arenga Palm. It contains a low GI (Glycemic Index) between 38 and 44 (of 55 it is considered low)
